Dylan the reading giant.....

One of Dylan's favorite things to do is to read. He is a reading fanatic! It has been known that Dylan will have his books taken away in School, because he tries to read when there is any spare time. Ms. Lloyd, his teacher, discussed with us his love for reading and how she has never seen a kid speed read like Dylan and retain the information as well as he does.  She also has to take his book away at times and she tells us it so difficult because she has never done that before. This came about after we suggested taking the book away so that Dylan will learn proper boundaries. We have caught him in bed late at night, with a little night light reading. We love that he loves reading so much....but, we have to tell him that there is a time and place with reading. Dylan had a "bucket list," item to meet an author. So when I heard that Brandon Mull, one of Dylan's favorite author's, was coming to the Library for a book signing we gathered friends and went. These boys loved every minute. Even waiting in line for the book signing. We did leave the line, briefly, to feed them at McDonald's and then return just to be the last ones at the event. It worked out great, since Brandon Mull talked to the boys for a few minutes and asked their advice about his to be continued series of Candy Wars.

One of Dylan's favorite places is Barnes and Noble. He will spend forever in the store reading and has met a few workers there who will discuss books with Dylan for a long time. They actually recognize him when he hits up the youth section.

He was thrilled when Rick Riodan's new book was released. We had an early reserve on the book and you would have thought it was Christmas when we picked up the book.

A few places we have caught him reading in 2015. Meeka sits right by him whenever he is reading. And Dylan loves to sit in Meeka's bed and read.
